Hello,
I’m Tanner Delpier, an expert on Michigan’s education finance system. I work as a Labor Economist for the Michigan Education Association (MEA) where I conduct research, advise on policy, and provide support to association bargaining units. Before joining MEA, I earned my PhD in Education Policy from Michigan State University (MSU). While there, I studied school choice, school closure, and education finance under Dr. David Arsen.
Some of my public work includes:
What Will it Take to Achieve Funding Adequacy for All Michigan Students (Delpier and McKillip, 2023),
Educational Opportunities and Community Development In Rural Michigan (Arsen, Delpier, Gensterblum, Jacobsen, and Stamm, 2022),
The Community Consequences of School Closure (my dissertation, 2021),
Michigan Education Finance at the Crossroads (Arsen, Delpier, and Nagel, 2019),
Does Money Matter in Education (Delpier, Nagel, Stec, Gilzene, Arsen, 2019)
